Workday
Financial Dashboards UX
Concept
Workday is a financial management & CRM software company that aims to streamline business operations with its user-centric dashboards and tools. I worked within the financials UX team.
Tasks
-
Develop interactive financial dashboards in Figma such as hubs, overview, period close orchestration, and data management.
-
Transform old user flows and UI into an improved & reimagined user experience
Purpose
This role needed a product designer with a visual design background to rethink and create fresh user flows and screens as conceptual prototypes that could be pushed to development down the line.
PROJECT ONE
Gartner Dashboards
For this project, the marketing team required user flows that would be compiled into a video narrative describing a conceptual business scenario for review by Gartner (a market research company). As part of the larger Financials UX team, I was in charge of redesigning the Zero Day Close overview, orchestration, and data management dashboards. The content was presented to me in the form of spreadsheets.
Final screens
Using Workday brand style guides and components within Figma, I designed dashboards that were on-brand but reflected an updated and refreshed UI.
Prototyping
Fully functional prototypes included linking to other pages/flows, chatbot interaction, checkbox selection flow, etc.
PROJECT TWO
Period Close Tasks Automation
This project sought to reduce redundant/mundane accounting tasks and create an automated and templatized method for fast-tracking period end close activities. Having a template would mean pre-populated parameters could be tweaked for each specific period end close, rather than redoing them from scratch each time. After a series of syncs to go over the brief & requirements, I worked on bringing conceptual visual drafts to life.
WIP design
The working design utilizes cards for each task. The parameters can be accessed & edited within a side panel pop-up form on the right side of the screen. As the user alters the inputs, the corresponding changes would show in real time. Other features would enable the user to filter & re-order task cards, attach files, show or hide card info, etc.
Overall Feedback
I enjoyed working with the UX team, marketing director Samantha, and project managers. It was an interesting challenge to reimagine fresh designs while staying true to Workday's brand & product history. For the Gartner dashboards, I was happy to hear that my designs were also well received by the VP of Product Development.
